Calling All Two Plankers, Free Heelers and Knuckle Draggers

I' m a skier who hikes too. Does that count? On point, this may be the year I finally put together a multi day trip, supported by a hot tent, into the Pemi in order to ski the East facing slide off Mt Lincoln. :):)

    Down Bags and mice

Kevin, Have you stored bags in places where mice COULD have gotten to them but did not, either because of your storage technique or because mice don't like down? ys

    Ascending Lincoln Slide in Winter

We would do it from a hot base camp near the slide bottom over three or four days. Did you get all the way to the valley floor?

    Ascending Lincoln Slide in Winter

MIrabela, The general slope angle is a relatively safe 30 degrees, which isn't to say there won't be start zones. We do have that skill set.

    Ascending Lincoln Slide in Winter

Sierra, There has been some confusion over which "Lincoln slide" I suspect you assumed I meant the West facing slide commonly called Lincoln's Throat which does have vertical ice at the top and would be insane to attempt to ski. I am talking about the East facing slide which dumps into the Pemi...

    Ascending Lincoln Slide in Winter

Anyone done it? Thinking about skiing it and am wondering if the slide can be ascended directly from the bottom rather than what promises to be an unplesant bushwack from the side. I am partcularly concerned about any high angle ice as my party will not have that skillset.

    PROBLEMS!! at BeyondClothing.com

Jacket has arrived! Got it Thursday as promised. It is well made, has all the features ZI requested, and fits perfectly! If you can stand the wait and non commutative nature of beyond clothing as they struggle with too much business, the clothing is great. Would I order again? Yes.

    Camping in frigid weather?

4 Dog stove company but the price of that stove has also ski-rocked. Any small sheepherder stove will do ok for several hundred dollars less than the ti stove. Will send photos of tent when I have more time. Go here for other pictures. wintertrekking.com

    Camping in frigid weather?

Thanks Tom, I didn't know about that site. We use the tent primarily to get to backcountry ski terrain difficulty to access as a daytrip. Haven't found too many other folks who combine warm tent camping with bc skiing so it will be fun to hang out in thaf forum for a while.

    Camping in frigid weather?

I'm afraid the price has gone up quite a bit since I bought mine. Heavy? It depends. The tent sleeps up to 4 and weighs 18 lbs, Not much different than a 'Cold" winter tent on a per person basis. Add 2lbs per person for the woodstove (yep, 8lbs, it's titanium) and you have warm winter space for...

    Breadloaf wilderness--overnight winter access

My issue is the feasibility of leaving the car at the Jay Pass turnout. We would probably put in a primitive camp somewhere in the state forest cosistent with primitiive camping regulations, not either of the established camps you folks are discussing.
