    all around tele skis

Another ski candidate I have a pair of Fisher S-Bound rebounds matched with a slightly heavier version of the Karhu Catamount boot for powder conditions, or T-3's for nastier stuff. It is probably the most versatle bc ski out there with a double camber for straight ahead speed and 29mm sidecut...

    Winter survival supplies

I am upgrading my emergency kit after reading *Deep Survival* by Gonzales. I have added a chemical fire starter, tinder and a small metal cup to obtain water and am now trying to lower the weight of the kit. I carry a posi-drive screwdriver for the #3 posi-drive bit to tighten ski bindings. The...

    Overboots/supergaitors?

Western skiers seldom use gaiters I have skied with a dozen or so backcountry skiers in the deep snows of British Colombia for the past three years. No one uses them there. People favor elastized pant cuffs to fit over boots.

    Back Country Skiing gear

Hi Donna, Check out the November issue of Backcountry Magazine for a disussion of light backcountry touring gear. Backcountry skiing S. Twin/Guyot,Bond

Thanks for the info. I agree wholeheateldy that lines such as these should be climbed before skiing. That is our intent. If you were to head in there again, would you travel up the stream to the north or south sides? Overhead photos seem to suggest hardwoods on the south-facing bank, but...

    Backcountry skiing S. Twin/Guyot,Bond

I have an opportunity to spend 2 days exploring possible ski lines in the Red Rock Brook drainage formed by these peaks. Can anyone comment on easiest way up this drainage in late winter conditions? Not sure I would trust the snow pack on the river itself at this point. Our base camp will be...
