Views from Wherever - What are your favorite viewpoints for various summits?

I absolutely love the view from West Bond! The walk along that ridge line to Guyot campsite it amazing too. The drive around Cates Hill looking out at the Kilkenny Ridge (even though it is a drive not a hike) is absolutely stunning! As well as looking at the Mahoosics from Cates Hill, BREATHTAKING!

i have an inkling that most of the positions that were filled were from people already employed at another Federal Prison in far away states like Az/Va, etc. I also think in addition to what you mentioned (which I believe) that families aren't thrilled with moving to area, where the school...

Cold/Flu Season = Less Hiking Days?

I had a bad cold in late September that knocked me out for a week, then I had an infected tooth needing a redo of an old root canal, with lots of pain and then I got bronchitis that started in November that lasted 6 weeks, then my terminally ill mother contracted pneumonia and passed away 2 days...

    Nansen Ski Jump video

My now almost 91 year old father tells me stories of competing in ski jump competitions with the nansen ski club with his norwegian buddies on wooden skis. I bet that was a sight to see! When I was growing up kids would party up there and after getting impaired would hike up the rickety ladder...

    If you like mountain Ravens

Beautiful! Ravens are very smart and like to have fun too! Anyone ever read the book on Ravens by Bernard (I think)Heinreich? (Sp) He is a professor over in Vt, who has studied Ravens with his students extensively at his remote camp in Maine. Very interesting book.

Windmills getting closer to the Whites - second and third Plymouth-area wind farms

I just heard rumor there is a third one being proposed, for Danbury, on top of the 2nd one proposed in Alexandria. Bridgewater people already have a petition out against the Alexandria turbines being proposed, since it will kill their view from lakeside homes. Apparently there was quite an...

So the question begs to be askedn did you here the music playing? Looks like a neat place, too bad it is so far away from where I am. However I'm adding this to my 2013 list, maybe I can combine it with a bike ride when I go. Great pics, looks interesting!

Three small mountains in the Plymouth area

We hiked Pike's Peak today and I was also impressed with the views. We skipped Plymouth Mtn since it may have been icy. Nice trailwork on the Plymouth side! I had hiked Plymouth mtn proper from the 3A side in hebron back in the 90's. Good to see that area is now in conservation. Looks like it...

What quotations or phrases keep you going in difficult outdoor situations?

Keep moving as well as setting short term goals "just get to this point," as well as saying "you can do this!" Or I try singing whatever song pops into my head.
