Woman flown off Denali after refusing to climb any farther

UNREAL!!!!! OMG!!!!! Not only should they 86 her from Denali but from any and ALL mountains that are over 500 feet!!! Can't they tag her name somehow so that any time she attempts a permit to climb...she's denied? Probably it wasn't a responsibility thing...more of a decision to request or...

    Early June in Baxter

Another quickie (question that is ;)) Want to hit Hamlin/Howe with an overnight at Abol 1st week in June. What is the usual snow/ice/water situation on the AT (Abol Slide I think) and then the tablelands/hamlin trails to those two peaks? Thanks.

#17 and an unplanned visit to Washington

We are slowly working our way towards completing the 48’s. Today, we decided to finish (ok…almost) the S. Presies. We had hit both Pierce and Eisenhower last month but had decided to forgo the frustration of trying to get Monroe due to postholing and constantly playing the game “how many times...

    Letter to a Camper

From the sounds of it...a hotel might have been better...at least they have trash cans there!!! Sure doesn't sound like they were there for nature!!

    Spring 48?

Ok...which of the 48's would be a good prospect for this weekend? We still need lots but here are some that we are looking at doing: 1. Tripyramids (from the Kanc) 2. Osecolas (from the Kanc) 3. Mt. Jackson (the AT) 4. Mt. Monroe (ammonosic and jewel loop) 5. S. and Middle Carter (19-mile...

    Would you climb Mt Everest?

Probably not...from what I've read and seen...it is such a high price (money, physically, and emotionally) and then, once there...it just doesn't seem worth that price... However...would LOVE to hit ABC...that, in and of itself would be very cool!

    # 15 and 16

Good info all around. I think we are going to do Pierce/Ike...and then, depending on weather...over to Monroe...this is about 12.6 miles there and back. how are the cols between each peak? Anything to worry about?

    Tecumseh, Beat the Buzzer, 3/20/10

Just thought it would be cool...we like to see the huts (just to say we've been there?) BUT...if that would make for a stinky hike...then we skip and head straight on the Crawford path. How is the side trip to the Crawford Cliffs? Would that be a worth while diversion?

    # 15 and 16

Looked at my maps last night... Pierce and Eisenhour from the rte 302 trailhead of Crawford path...to Mizpah Hut then over the peaks looks doable... How about that?
