Yesterday as I was getting ready to go out for a run, there was a HUGE explosion! As I felt the foundation shake, I thought that there wouldn't be anything left if I looked out the window. Surprisingly all seemed fine?! I'm wondering if any rock let loose?!!!:D

those were the days....my friend! as a kid I went barefoot from the day school got out to the day it went back in session - lots of running and my feet were tough as nails (my mother would make us soak in gasoline to get the tar off for sunday shoes...) we would joke about walking over coals...

Little Rickie - I think it was a bag, but ripped when she tried to get in it. It was awful! The thing flapped in the wind in our l/to. I have a couple of them that I had bought b/f the trip and they have never been opened. They are super cheap -----like 5bucks or so --------and def cannot be...

Just happened to catch this thread and recalled a trip about 10yrs ago. We planned to travel light and sleep out in ~0degree weather in a leanto. I brought a TNF bivy - much like the one in the link by Wiggly (sp?) - gortex, 2lbs, same hoop style etc. I was quite comfy w/ a -40F Darkhorse bag...

Helmet! I wear a helmet a lot more than I thought. mtb - yes - no-brainer! road bike - yes, I've had friends who have had their lives saved by their helmet. Hitting a guardrail or just going off the road due to a mechanical (flat tire). One actually went off the road, hit a telephone pole...
