    New AMC CEO

Lol it’s one of them. Also not just solely focusing on the uber-wealthy is another.

    How to manage WMNF

Guyot site and the Lincoln Woods trailhead has needed a reservation system for about 10 years. That needs to happen - what a zoo. On the state side, Falling Waters could perhaps benefit from a reservation system.

    139 person Grand Canyon Hike

pretty sure some of the old VFTT gatherings and hikes came close to matching this

Cog Rolls out big development plans near the summit.

This is a far better proposal than the original idea, which was total lunacy. I still think this idea is dangerous in that I suspect people will still get in trouble from time to time, requiring SAR.

Cohos Trail Outdoor Center / Hiker Hostel survey

I filled out the survey about a week or so ago. I think the key is that the CTA really, really needs to listen to the outdoor community here, and not repeat some of the major mistakes made by the AMC and also Maine Huts & Trails. Specifically, I hope that they don't grow to focus too heavily...

    John Judge Out at AMC

Hopefully the first thing the new president does is change the logo. The public overwhelming hates the new one. I now worry that the Trustees are getting an arrogant leader that doesn't really listen to feedback well.

    Via Ferrata gear recommendations?

Just wanted to note that if you wanted practice, there's a great (self-guided) place in Kentucky near Red River Gorge that you can do this. Some of the most fun I've ever had. Also a guided tour in West Virginia I believe.

    Ran out of VFTT Stickers

When the original VFTT logo files were lost, I had my friend design a new one, and that logo is what was used on the t-shirts and Teejay's stickers. Here you go!

    Sites similar to VFTT

That's awesome! If I remember correctly, I think I ended up losing like $200 on those. Don't really care though because people did seem to like them. Only six orange ones were made - I wonder what they go for on ebay?

TY Gagne's new book is out (Spoiler Alert!)

Thanks for the heads up on this. Added it to the wish list. His first book is the one of the best SAR-related books of all time, anywhere.

    Sites similar to VFTT

If only FB would die and VFTT returned to full strength. I contributed a fair amount to VFTT from about 2004 through 2010, and miss those days quite a bit. Met lots of people and drank tons of beer. Even hiked a little. Some of the drama was epic too.

On a side note, I'd love to see Guyot add an advanced permit system. It is such a zoo there these days.

New England Waterfalls guidebook (updated 3rd edition)

Hello All! I just wanted to announce that the new edition of the New England Waterfalls guidebook just hit the market about 2 weeks ago. It took over 2 years to get this thing done. During that process, I personally revisited 100% of the waterfalls that are described in detail within the...

F&G at Breaking Point for Rescue Funding

Start charging $5/day to park at Arethusa Falls, Falling Waters, and other high-target parking areas in state parks in/near the Whites and use that money to fund F&G better. Problem solved.

Appalachia Parking Area - The New Lafayette Place?

us2 and I93 are far too different. I see no safety issues with Appalachia and there are so many trail options that you can easily beat the crowds.
