Critical life activities
Here is the list of exceptions. I guess I could count the NH State store as a shopping trip. While I think hiking is critical, MA does not. Luckily I can mtn bike MA and have a good time.
The state also exempts certain short, same-day trips across the border and...
I was up there last weekend with my 10 year old son. Hi-Cannon was not broken out and I was not sure how my dog would fair on the ladder so we went up the Lonesome Lake Trail. It was not broken either but we headed up on snowshoes. Several bare boot parties and a couple of parties on snowshoes...
Might want to take a look at Cold Cold World packs. Pretty light, bomber, easy to attach snowshoes and crampons. Made in NH. http://www.coldcoldworldpacks.com/chaos.htm

There is no longer a designated site at 4140' I found the spot but the sign is gone and the site is full of blowdown. Great trail but lots of things to work around especially up high. Worth it.
I wacked up to Zealand from the Little River valley back in 2008 with NH_MTN_HIKER. Those talus slopes are pretty unstable so be careful. One of the tougher wacks I've been on above the talus. Just be careful. Loving your trip reports!

Those are some of the best trails in the Whites. I've done both several times. I would go up 6H if I had a choice. The last time I did it was last October. There is a new set of ladders that make it a bit tamer. I disagree that Sphinx is mostly a bail out route. It is a fine trail. Thanks...
