Onestep and I did this in June 2008. It took us 12 hours, mostly because I'm slow. But your planned route was essentially what we did.

It's been a couple of years but the first 12 miles or so in from Rt 201 are usually 35-45 MPH easy. After that the road narrows a little and you have to slow down. The section that Bigmoose mentioned is winding, narrow and has several culverts that may washout in wet conditions. Jim

The shortest route is the one I took in June via the Gravel pits on the Danby Mt Road (I think) from the East.
