    More trail closings?

We have a stay at home order not a shelter in place. https://www.nhpr.org/post/gov-sununu-answers-questions-stay-home-order At least at this date, hiking was encouraged and the ability to social distance on trails was supported. I keep telling myself I shouldn't let this get to me because I can...

    More trail closings?

These closures seem like nonsense to me. I haven't changed my hiking patterns and although some trails seem more popular, it has not been hard for me to social distance. I get out early or at odd times and park in the parking lot. I've worn a buff over my face as I pass others. Others give...

    Stylin' on Moosilauke 3.18.07

I did! There is nothing not to love. It was my nieces' first time above treeline. One was so sore she skipped school the next day, but loved it. Nice meeting you too.

Bumped into Marty today, and his reminiscing about this hike made me look it up. Unbelievable memory, Marty! Great to see you and LarryD. So glad you and I are still out there.

    Whites snowshoe status?

Monadnock is snow free in essence. Little patches in shady places off trail up high.

Eisenhower for Early Bird's Winter Finish

Great day looking at it in the rearview mirror. The break in the sheltered saddle was lovely, and everything below the Mizpah cutoff was wonderful too. Thanks for your company and the summit cookies! I knew my last 48 was to have been either the 5th or this weekend. This weekend is much worse. I...

    Saying goodbye to an old friend...Terra T Traildog Oct 13 2003-November 15 2016

Such sad news. My thoughts are with you. Terra lived a good life, lucky girl. I miss her, the thought of her when she and my Charlie met on Isolation. Peace. In sympathy...

    M'Adams midweek?

Hi, I'm just reading this now. I was also wishing I could take a weekday off work to finish my winter 48. I have 9 left, 5-7 hikes and Madison, Adams are two of them. So are are the Tris. Yesterday was my last day out though on Hale. Next Saturday is my daughter's b'day. Maybe we could do some...

    AMC huts during caretaker season?

I'm trying to remember if the huts provide a pillow and those wool blankets in caretaker self serve season. Is it just one blanket as opposed to the 3 you get in full serve season? Thanks.

Just for the record, I am not familiar with any of the trail in my previous post. I took them from the GMC mud season web page.

    AT in VT

Glastonbury and Stratton are both high elevation peaks in s. VT on the AT/LT. They are on NF land and should be avoided. Thumbs up to Guthook. I also would hope that hikers knowing about the trails closures would honor that. :-) Mud Season Hiking Guidelines Walk through the mud, not around...

    Kid backpacks?

Hi! Just seeing this now, but we got the REI sprig for our daughter last year to use on overnights. It worked out great, good fit, nice features. She carries her sleeping pad, some clothes, snacks, water, Crocs, and there is room for more. My nephew, same age, had the rei tarn, on clearance...

    Suggestions for a Loop

I was going to suggest this one. There is a fire tower for views. I did it once and stayed at Kid Gore, adding a few extra miles. The trail both ways are beautiful. I enjoyed West Mt. Loop a lot. Highly recommend it.

Carter Dome, South and Middle Carter, and Moriah (18 October 2014)

Nice report for a nice day out. Raven. I was out there Saturday also. Just the loop from 19 Mile Brook across S. and Middle Carter and down over Imp Face. Would have been nice to have seen you. I thought of my daughter too as I crossed those bog bridges. She likes to play Billy Goats Gruff on...
