As of last Sunday all paths from Macomb to Dix were broken from Elk Lake including the bail out by Hough and the one by Macomb/South Dix. We met hikers who had used both hunter's pass and the beck horn trail. Microspikes or crampons were needed on the Macomb slide. When we re-busted the route to South Dix from Macomb we turned west off the herd path but eventually found it again. We went to East Dix and then over to Hough using the Bail out. When we left Monday an inch of new snow had fallen at the Slide Brook leanto. This means the trails and herd paths may or may not still be open. There was still running water at Slide Brook leanto as of last weekend. A great trip with good friends.
