Haven't been to Monadnock in a long time because we usually hike with dogs. Used 4 wheel drive on the last .3 mi to the trailhead as the road was rutted and icy. Trail mostly packed powder and ice to the treeline -- microspikes necessary. Bare rock and high winds above the treeline though not so bad as the last time we were there! Also ice patches.
No other parties on Marlboro; a few on Davis and several at the summit. We were unable to spot the Marion trail junction in either direction, although we did see a few odd cairns on the ledges, so maybe there are painted markers now covered in snow. Some sun, many animal tracks, and views of 20-30 miles. A pair who hiked Marlboro on 2/13 got engaged at the summit, according to the log book. Happy Valentine's Day!
