Oliverian Brook to Passaconaway Cutoff to Square Ledge/ Walden TR.
Trail Conditions: Hardpacked crusty snow up to the turn to Square Ledge TR. Trail deteriorated somewhat linearly from the start of Square Ledge TR to the summit. Postholes were at first rare but increased in frequency up to Walden TR. From the flat section on Walden to just below the summit the trail is speckled with postholes and in many places the trail is not well packed. Oddly, snowshoes seemed to be more of a hindrance than a help.
Special Equipment Required: Microspikes recommended. Snowshoes may be helpful if the temps rise, as the sun-softened snow on the steeps crumbled in the afternoon sun today.
Comments: Great day for my first winter 4k footer! Bluebird skies allowed for some great views to the N, E, and S.
