Just had a half day to hike so we buzzed over to Crawford notch and did Pierce up the Crawford Path.
The trail at any time of the year will never be better than it is now. It's a white brick highway, smooth and deceptively fast. We intentionally were not trying to push it, it was just a day to stretch the legs and get the cobwebs out. I was surprised at how quickly we reached the summit. In fact we were back at the car in the time I had thought it would take just to reach the top.
There were no obstacles at all below the treeline. The last tenth of a mile to the summit is very icy.
Used microspikes all day. They worked fine. Crampons would work fine. Stableicers would work below the treeline but would require some rock hopping above the treeline where the trail is steep and icy.
We met one other person at the top, but coming down we must have passed at least 25 people. Many recognized Lauky. As happens so often there were a couple of folks who asked if we were Tom and Atticus.
Sorry to disappoint, we're not the TV stars, just old Ed and Lauky.![Roll eyes  ](data:image/gif;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAIAAAAAAAP///yH5BAEAAAAALAAAAAABAAEAAAIBRAA7)
