Sorry but the trails are going to get crowded because I just turned 3 girls (4th grade) and 1 teenage girl into mad hikers!

I took them to Harriman State park to hike part of the AT because the NYState 4th grade curriciulm is about NY..

They each had a chance to lead and the weather was perfect..3 girls carried their soccer bag with water food and a down jacket, which was needed at the top (1244 feet)..I heated up soup for them and they just hung out. the trail was full of leaves with a patch or two of ice but not much...a light dusting of snow in certain spots.. The best part was taking my friend to EMS the night before and they spent app $400 on boots/pants/thermals while I just watched....after the hike they went on the merry go round and went ice skating at Bear mtn...now if I could only get them to give up basketball or soccer once a month then I could take them out...oh yea..I was the sweeper again on this hike! One day I'll figure out Webshots..

I think it's on webshots now..under "gotcoldfeet"..can someone explain to me in easy words how i can save it so all u have to do is click?

The link you want is :

http://community.webshots.com/album/512897102VUqRLq

If you click the world icon (A little blue ball when you are posting), you will get a window that lets you create a link that looks like this:

Coldfeet's Pictures

First you put in the text, and then the url. The url above can be found by going to your 'gotcoldfeet' main page in webshots and then clicking on the album you want to reference. Then cut/paste the url that results when it's showing you the thumbnails.

Nice trip report!

Thx Tom!...keep me signed up on 12/24 weather permitting...I'm going to sleep over somewhere that night because my family is going to the Nevele Hotel the next day for a few days. I hope to go on the 12/26 hike...

Glad you had a good hike David. BTW, did you count the stairs to Perkin's Tower.

The last time I was there, that was one of the questions etched into the tiles on the inside of the tower...

Jay ...the tower was closed, 3rd time I've been there and I'm 0 for 3...probably because I go in the fall and not spring/summer..to bad wished the kids could go up..guess I'll have to take them to a fire tower, but not Red Hill after reading about that hunting accident..

Too bad, the one advantage of doing it in the summer is that the tower is open...

If you want various firetowers to explore, I can tell you how to get to Jacky Jones in Harriman or the Sterling Forest firetower which is actually open and manned in the summer months (during fire season). Both are short hikes. I can also tell you how to get to a firetower in the Pequannock Watershed area in NJ (West Milford), it's a nice tower with great views. I was just there on Sunday.....

The tower is often closed in the summer too!

Don't forget the Culver firetower in NJ, to which I will be leading a hike this coming Sunday!

Great Pics David. Those girls look like they really enjoyed that hike....especially liked the shot of them having fun on the big snow pile.
