Since I started in the Presidential Range, why not move further north? So i did the next mountain in the chain, Mt Pierce this past Saturday.

Started at the Mt Clinton parking area at 8:15 and took the Crawford Connector to Crawford Path. Temps were in the 70's and boy it was humid! By the time i had hit Crawford Path I was already drenched. Can't say the bugs were too kind either.

Proceded to climb up the Crawford Path. I would take this to Webster Cliff Trail then from there head south to the summit. Was a little hard starting out but i was doing better than i thought since i hit the Mizpah Connector in 55 mins when according to the book it should have taken 1:40. Not too shabby. Along the way i took a small detour to Gibbs Falls. The coolness of the water falling was a relief to the heat and humidity i was feeling. Was nearing the top when i could see how much fog was still burning off. The views i should have had were not to be found that day, just a big white void. Got some nice shots of the Alpine Area though. Its starting to look really good there now.

Made it to the summit of Pierce in 1:45 but didn't linger too long since there wasn't much to see and the bugs were killing me. I got to remember bug spray for the next trip i take. After maybe 5 mins i started down Webster Cliff heading for Mizpah hut. Made it there in 30 mins. There were a couple of people there so not crowded by any means. I ate one of my granola bars and rested for maybe 15 mins then headed down the Mizpah Cutoff to get back to Crawford Path. This part wasn't steep and was a nice gentle down the whole way. Concidering I was basically cruising today i didn't feel all that tired. Trail was mostly on the dry side too; a welcome sight to me after trudging through the mudd and streams last week.

Got back to Crawford Path and continued heading down to the Crawford Connector and back to my car. Total time was 4 hours and mileage of 6.6. Def not a bad day.

Hey sounds like a good time, too bad I couldn't make it. Perhaps after my stint as a counselor at camp we can do some hikes...but then again, by that time I may have already done a traverse or two with the campers! :D
