Trails: North Twin, North Twin Spur, Twinway, Frost, Garfield Ridge, Gale River

Summits: North Twin, South Twin, Galehead

Car Spotted for a nice loop and started on the trail at 7:10am. Was very concerned about river crossings forever with this hike and waited for the water levels to get low to rock hop and that worked out well here. We actually did do the bypass even though could have crossed semi-easy. That was pretty easy to follow. 3rd crossing had me worried but was super-easy. I was actually surprised how gradual it was to peak North and South Twin from that side. Felt like I didn't work hard enough for these 2 after thinking for so long they would be tougher than that.

Awesome ledge viewpoint just before North Twin and even better South Peak summit. Excellent! 5.6 miles done and headed down from South Twin at 11am.

Twinway from South Twin down to Galehead Hut was actually the toughest section of the day. STEEP! Going down was total boulder pounding! I was happy to be pretty much done climbing for the day but going down this 0.8 took a good 40 minutes and really started hurting my knees. Finally got to the hut at 6.4 miles and had lunch there and worried about my legs holding up for another 5.6 miles to grab Galehead and then a long trudge out.

Galehead was easy up and down Frost and that'll prolly be the only time I ever hit that peak again. One decent ledge lookout but other than that, uneventful and not worth the extra mile unless you need to bag the peak.

Down from the Hut was a long 4.6 miles out. But we jammed the last 4 miles on Gale River and only took 1 hour 35 min back to the car. Was there at 2:45pm.

All in all, great day, great weather, easy river crossings, 3 peaks and a hut. #39, 40 & 41 for me with 7 to go now!
