I hiked up to Cannon Mt on Saturday, the weather was supposed to be questionable, but I managed to get a really bad sunburn on my belly from taking a nap at the outlook! Oh Well. It was a little too humid for my comfort zone, but I did kick into my usual speed hiking because I was solo, so I made it to the summit in 1 hour and 5 minutes, including a snack break at the outlook on the way up. I have come to the conclusion that I really do NOT like to hike alone. I try to enjoy it, but for now I think I will stick to group hiking. I took a little 2 hour nap on the way down at the outlook, which was quite enjoyable. The tourists and buildings at the top kind of make this one, well, sad. The coundown begins in earnest...

Oh, You bet I will be there for the presi traverse. :) I'm really looking forward to it. I still need a few of the Carter- Moriahs and Isolation if you need a hinking partner. Christine

Next Sunday Geri and I, MEB and Rachel, and hopefully many others are planning on joining Brian on a Kinsman Ridge traverse as he completes his 48th peak. Would love to have you join us! (you too Andy!)

which trail up Cannon?

My son and I are planning to renew acquaintenances via peak bagging after a ten year respite, and are planning to begin with Cannon later this week. What route did you take for such a fast ascent?

Hi Bob and Geri, lets see, family gathering on the coast of Maine to celebrate mothers 70th birthday with lobsters and blueberry cake, or hiking the Kinsmans... No contest, what time are we meeting and which trailhead? I will be there for sure. ;)

Squashman, I hiked up Kinsman Ridge from the Cannon Tramway parking lot. I wasn't actually running, but pretty close. I get very nervous hiking alone, so I make up for it by just going fast and not stopping much. Congrats on reuniting with your son, best of luck to you both. Read Tom and Atticus' trip report on the Bonds for something inspirational.

Christine

And I thought I was fast at two hours to the top with a break at the outlook! :)

I'm glad you had a good hike - I'm one of the few people who actually likes that route up Cannon. The outlook is tremendous - it feels like you can just reach out and touch Franconia Ridge. And it's far enough from the summit to not be overrun with tourists!

If you want to hike with a LOT of other people, come to the Adirondack BBQ this weekend - I think we'll be be officially a "mob" this year. :D
