Sunday I had some time in the morning for a hike and for some reason Marlie suggested Tecumseh. In May we had gone up from the ski area side so it was a no brainer to ascend from Tripoli Rd. We arrived on Tripoli Rd at dawn and I was suprised to see the number of campers. There were cars squeezed in everywhere.
We had boots/paws on trail at 5:55am just after another guy that we had met in the parkilng lot. As we ascended we saw the sun break over the trees and we were hiking in the first rays of the day. Just before reaching the West Peak we caught up to the other hiker. He went to the view so we respectfully continued on and reached the summit at 7:30.
There I saw a flag hanging on a sign in honor of a fallen soldier from Neport, NH. A guy is hiking the 48 to raise money and awareness for vets. I believe that it is the same person that hiker002 had mentioned in his Waumbeck report. With no disrespect to the fallen soldier, I had to wonder where the 48 flags and laminated cards would end up. Either way it was for a good cause and I took a picture and emailed it to him as requested. Soon the other hiker showed up as well as a thiird that had ascended from the ski area side. For all those Tecumseh haters here are some pics from naer and on the summit.

After about 20 minutes of hanging out on the summit we headed back to Tripoli Rd, stopping for a couple pics at the West Peak along the way.

We were back at the truck at 9:10 and I was home at 10:30. Not to shabby for a Sunday morining.
