Total mileage 11 miles
I will drive up the night before to spend the night at ADK Loj ($35/night). I will be returning to Boston after finishing the hike & having dinner w/ newly-made friends/hiking partners.
The date will be determined by the 1st other hiker(s) willing to give a solid committment.
Possible dates include:
Thus, 12/8;
Fri, 12/9;
Sat, 12/10
SUNDAY IS NOT A POSSIBILITY
Mon, 12/12
Tues, 12/13
Please have appropriate gear; I can loan some winter gear but not all.
I can provide a ride from or along the way from Boston, MA. (It is expected that gas costs will be shared equally).
In 3-season hiking, I do about a 2 mile per hour pace.
I can loan the use of a JetBoil stove to make breakfast, for we'll be starting early. To quote Dan Allen, the author of "Don't Die on the Mountain", "There is no substitute for an early morning start."
Safety comes first and foremost; I'd rather turn around to hike the mountains another day than go on when prudence & conditions dictate otherwise.
Having said that, this is a peak-bagging hike; I have done 51 of the NE 115 and would like to bag 1/2 of them before leaving the area for a while.
