I am curious: On average, how many hiking miles and how much elevation gain does it take to achieve the 46er and 48er status? Please base the response on typical routes to each peak or sets of peaks and only include each mountain once.

There may have been a thread in the past in which this question was asked and if so, please direct me to it.

Rough calculations for my first round (ADK 46) as I went over my notes was roughly 270 miles and close to 76000 feet of acsent. Is that average? Who knows, but it's how I did it.

My totals for the NH 48 were 337 miles and 107,000 feet of elevation gain, done on thirty dayhikes and two overnights.

NH 48: 274 miles, 81k elevation gain, 25 dayhikes in 2004.
