The trail is almost perfect. Another 6-8 inches should cover up the rest of the rocks that are exposed and make the trail 100%. This was my 14th summit of Algonquin (9th winter nighttime) and I must say it was the least windy I have ever seen it, however it was still bitter cold up there. Without a doubt my favorite winter hike in the High Peaks. I wore my new Tubbs Alps 24 and I have never felt so secure before, better than full blown crampons. The heel lift on those super steep spots are a godsend...makes it so easy to go up in confidence...incredible traction.
