Date of Hike: Saturday, November 27th
Trail Conditions: hard, slippery, 2-4 inches of new snow; icy in many spots
Special Equipment Required: Crampons (or appropriate snowshoes) necessary above 3500 feet. Stabilicers of limited use above the trail junction to Wright Peak.
Comments: Cold snowy day that never quite cleared until dusk. Steady snow from early morning until early afternoon. Near whiteout conditions when we reached the summit around noon: snowing hard, with a stiff wind from the west. No views until we were below timberline on the descent--and then only intermittent. Snowpack is still light, and snowshoes are not yet necessary, even up high. But the new snow on Saturday made it look and feel like winter.
