Although we found the usual muddy trails, my son and I moved along well and ended up doing this hike in easily my best time. The bridge over Lake Jimmy has many loose boards and requires some caution. The Opalescent River was running low. Only half way up the calf in the deepest part. We switched to flip-flops for the crossing and they gave us the traction on the slippery stones. Black flies were not a problem but there were annoying gnats and occasionally even more annoying deer flies.
