Conditions:
Hiked Allen on 10/17. Trail was a bit muddy but easy to follow. The slide on Allen was all ice. Very slow going here. Snow at the top. The guy we saw on our way up made a small snowman at the summit. The weather was nice. Sun was out and views were great.
Tips:
We came out in the dark. The portion of the hike towards Allen after the gravel pit is best done in the daylight. At this time of year, the leaves make the trail hard to see at certain sections...the dark would be even more difficult even with a headlamp.
Equipment:
Gaiters to help with mud and water, water proof boots, water proof gloves or extra pair, some type of traction aid!
