I think road is being plowed for the first time so people can use the cog railway ski trains. I actually called the railway last week to try and get answer - becuase I want to do the same thing your talking about. However, the women I spoke with couldn't give me a straight answer. I asked if they were allowing people to park in their parking lot. (My guess is the actual trailhead is not plowed.) She said yes - but they open at nine and close at 5. I then asked if that meant we could park earleir and pay after climbing - she said she thought so. What about if you come after 5pm - she didn't know. So - I would call them - and do us a favor - let us know how it works out - I am sure many have the same question!!

thanks!!

Last year the Ammonusuc ravine trailhead was plowed out about enough to get 6 or 7 vehicles in. Whoever plowed the Mt Clinton road did that last year and we parked at the trailhead when we hiked in Feb. I doubt if that will be the case this year and those who want to climb Mt Washington from the west will have to park at the Cog and pay $5. I wonder if they'll have somebody standing at the entrance like they sometimes do in summer asking their "parking" intentions.

For later in the year, the plan is for the Mt. Clinton Road to be unplowed & part of the snowmobile trail. I would expect base Road to be accessible all year or until the snow trail stops running.

Can someone explain to me how they will run enough trains up & down (1 or 2 tracks to 3800 feet where I understand it will stop???). I have to think skiers will get down faster the train that brought them up.

Expect a lot of ice on Ammo
