Trail well broken out. A few drifts in the thicker wooded parts closer towards the alpine zone. Passed that there are no visible trail markers, the snow is wind packed hard, but too deep for signage.

Special equipement: crampons were a blessing on the slick steep parts of the trail and some of the icy patches up Mount Monroe. Full face covering of some kind and goggles are necessary since the wind is rediculous above treeline. Snowshoes wont be needed until there is another significant snowfall.

Comments: Base station road is indeed clear all the way up to the railway. I didnt check, but im pretty sure the trail from the normal trailhead is not broken out at all. It is shorter to start at the Cog parking lot anyway. I parked there all day and had no issues with my car. Also, when there are 70mph winds in the forecast, that is no joke. It robs the heat out of your body in seconds so please dress properly!

Washington is famous for the worlds worst weather for a reason.
