Did another hike today on Mt greylock, this time from the west via the Roaring Brook trailhead. I figured I'd go waterfall hunting and finish off all the waterfalls marked on the DCR map of Greylock...
Started at Roaring brook trailhead in Williamstown, with the anticipation of having to cross the brook three times... I was happily surprised that the 2nd bridge was fixed sometime this year and is pretty new (and also still standing after Irene). The first two bridges were fine, the third bridge had a large tree split the 2 log span in half, however, it was still passable..
Checked out Deer Hill falls close to the Sperry campground and then checked out March Cataract Falls which I've never been too.. I'm always passing it by but figured, with all this rain, what a better time than to go hunt waterfalls.
After a few shots from the trail, I crossed the base of the falls and bushwacked up the creek, sometimes, most of the time, actually walking up the creek until I hit the overlook trail which I took north towards the view and the auto road. Then moseyed my way up to the summit and the Bascom Lodge for a lunch break.
Took the direct Hopper trail back down to the campground and then back via the roaring brook trail to the trailhead....
Very nice day, the war memorial was open so I got to go inside and take some shots...
