Dave's talk about skiing this trail at the Gathering got me thinking more about it. I haven't skied it before and would really like to. My other half is going to be along and isn't a great skier yet. She skis on touring (edgeless) skis and is pretty competent on gentle terrain and has a decent snowplow for downhills.

Goodman's description of the trail makes it sound like is might be a bit much for her, but I really want to join Dave et al. and am trying to find a way to include her (read: I won't be able to go if she can't)...

For those of you who have skied it, what do you think? what kinds of skis have you used on it and how much of it is steep and narrow? Are the uphills mild enough for waxless skis without skins (or without walking)?

thanks for your input!!!

Spencer,

I skied it a few years back and remember it being "interesting." There is a long, rather steep and narrow down hill that ends in a 90 degree corner over a bridge. Miss it and you're in the stream.

If your SIG is OK with using the bail-out fall as a viable XC technique she might do OK. If it is crusty, I think edged skis would be manadatory for a beginner-Intermediate skier.

And you could slather her skis with Klister to slow her down a bit!
