Date of Hike: 3/20/10
Conditions: From south meadow all the way to the pass everything is skiable still, snow pack is still very good. One water crossing you have to pick your way around before marcy dam. It's melting fast though.
Required Equipment: The usual ski gear, we used backcountry skis with metal edges and fish scales. Throw some F4 in the pack for the descent - the snow might get sticky on the way down.
Comments: Avalanche Lake is opening up - we skied around the firmer ice near the shore and were ok, but I wouldn't venture out much further.
Great day to be out! One of my favorite ski trips - go out and do it before the snow is gone!
