I had hoped to head up to Mt. Field but I only made it as far as Avalon. Hit the Avalon trail at 6:30 AM and found it unbroken with a foot of new snow and crust on top. It was windy but temps were in the 20's so a great day to be out. After the split with the A-Z trail the snow was up to 2 feet deep and beautiful powder. At the summit of Avalon the skies were sunny and the views were great. I was beat though after breaking trail alone so I headed back.
Recommend snow shoes and lots of Gortex. The branches are hanging low from the icing and I got really covered in snow.
