Does anyone know where I can rent a sled for a weekend. I know I can build one, I just need it for one weekend so it might be easier to just rent one.

You might try EMS in North Conway. I have a very faint recollection of them offering pulks for rent. (We used to offer it at the EMS store in St. Paul many years ago.)
EDIT: Google "pulk rental" -- you'll see some locations in northern New England. No idea whether they'll let you take it off the premises, though.
