After a few cups of coffee this morning, i decided to get a little exercise, and got in my car and headed a few miles north to lincolnville. I decided to hike one of my fav's bald rock mt, which is about 1,000 feet above sea level, and about a 3.5 mile roundtrip hike. So, not a very challenging hike, but perfect for a late morning workout. It is also a great winter showshoe excursion, especially at night time.
The hike goes up a nice little tote road for a mile and a half and then turns left and ascends up a steeper section for another 1/2 mile to the top of the mt. Not very strenous, but it was rather warm and sticky out, so still a good workout doing the 2 miles in maybe 40 minutes. The top was rather disappointing today, clear skies over the little mt's but the ocean was completely fogged over. So, what is normally a gorgeous view, was just white fog today. oh well.
I then went down the backside of the mt, maybe a mile and a half walk, pretty easy descent, takes maybe 30 minutes. From there it was off to lake megunticook for a quick swim, just me, myself, and about 200 summer campers swarming the park.
So, no good views today, but here are a few nice pics from last year's foliage season from the same hike.
