Learned Sat on Wildcat D - from 7Summits - yet another tiny - to the Bear Whisperer - black bruin had been spotted on the slopes of Cannon that very a.m. Thus hatched notion that the BW would stalk the unmowed backside slopes of Cannon Sunday a.m. in search of the little fellers. So it was that BW and his sidekick/partner in crime started up from Peabody mid morn Sunday. Twas COOL as in brisk, cold, etc. and clear, but soon the fleece was gone as the delinquents arrived at lower Profile lift station for a short break. Hmmm, decision made to thrash straight up Profile thru the chest high growth along animal paths in hopes of jumping a bruin. Saw some raspberries in da brush and much scat. But alas nothing but a 45 min LATHER gained by slogging up Profile, except an appetite for day old "Tram-astrone." Sucked half a Hat w/ it befo Pa noticed 0.5 inches of yellow green sludge stuck to bottom of our bottles (must be what makes it magic...) EYUK - turned to HOORAY!!! as he swapped em for full Pumpkin Ships. Took the trails less travelled down - Vista to Hardscrabble - where we encountered no bruin but in lieu a large Mooskette (?), perhaps troubled by the advent of the season of rut (she had a major headache) as she skeedaddled full tilt. Upper/Lower HS twas full o water holes & the old fat BW slammed his shin on granite and whispered not, requiring further refreshment. More beers and wins by all the correct NFL teams followed. No opp to try the Foster Brooks method of remaining calm in close quarters w bruins practiced in Alaska but neverthless, all in all a PERFECT day. Thank ye kindly Pa. Cool and brisk, a hint of fall. Make no mistake tho, SUMMER IS OVER, in the Whites at least...
