I did a quick little hike friday afternoon in Acadia. Hiked the Beehive and Gorham Mt. The hike was about 5 miles, i parked in the parking lot at sand beach and went up the beehive first, then a little farther to the bowl, and then over to Gorham Mt, down to the park loop road near otter cliffs and then back along the trail along the park loop road. The Beehive is the most fun, it is 546 feet high, up iron ladders and rungs and a few little cliffs. The trail goes up the left side of the face of the mountain and is not too difficult, but probably not safe for young children. If you like climbs, the precipice trail is iron rungs and ladders as well, but much more difficult than the beehive, but it is not open till around august w/ the preregrine falcons nesting up there. Up above the beehive is the bowl, a nice little pond that i ate my lunch near. Then the trail goes over and up gorham mt(525 feet) and then down to the park loop road before it gets to otter cliffs. The views are great along the trails(even on cloudy days), and the hiking/climbing is pretty easy. It's about a 2 mile walk back to sand beach from the gorham mt trailhead, which is a nice walk on the ocean drive trail which goes past thunder hole.
