Belknap Carriage Road

Does anyone know if the Carriage Road, off Belknap Mtn Rd, up the West side of Belknap Mtn is gated at night? I am planning a night hike in that area. I can always park below the gate, but am not adverse to taking the easy way to the top. I know camping is not allowed, but I haven't seen anything against night hiking.

The sign at the gate says it is locked at night, and sometimes it is. Sometimes it isn't unlocked in the morning. YMMV

It tends to be gated in the evenings...I've parked in the little lot next to the gate when doing sunset-esque hikes up there.
