Hiked up to Black Cap after work for some great conversation, wonderful meal and a spectactular sunset with good friends. It is a lot of bang for your buck. The trail is well marked and wide at the bottom to allow us to hike out easily in the pitch dark. We were trying to see how long we could go without the headlamps. It was a beautiful night to be outside, considering the forecast isn't looking so hot for the next few days. This would be a perfect hike for people with small children to get them interested in hiking. It has been a long time since I've seen a sunset on the trail. I need to fix that right away. ;) The bonus to this hike is the drive on Hurricane Mountain Road, what a fun road. It is even more fun to sled down it in the winter!

I'll have to agree with chinooktrail. There is a lot of bank for the buck here and it is great for kids. I went up there for the first time in several years a few years back and was glad to see they had put in a parking area. 1/2-1 hr up, very easy hiking grades with reasonably good footing. Passed many mountain bikers on the main trail. Well worth the couple hours.
