Trail is good all the way. Many signs of recent maintenance, even on the spur to Pinnacle. The big blow of '99 opened good views of the Great Range along the ridge. It was mostly dry, but some mudholes were hard to bypass, especially on the Panther Gorge trail just before the junction to the Pinnacle-Blake-Calvin trail. One small beech across the trail three miles in, just before where first heighth-of-land on the Boreas range. Five minutes with a folding saw would take care of it. It was tougher climbing Blake this way than going over Colvin, which I've done several times. There are lots of ups and downs. Going back was easier, with more downs than ups and the ups were a lot gentler. No one else on the trail all day long. Buggy towards evening.
