is there a back side trail to summit. Have done this mountain many times but always from the front well traveled trail. Would like a different view this time.

There is only one marked trail to the summit of Blue Mountain. The NP trail can be left at Tirrell Pond but you will just take the Tirrell Pond trail back (going approximately west) to the parking lot of the common trailhead for Tirrell Pond and Blue Mtn. Halfway back on this Tirrell Pond trail it crosses a private road. The private road does not go near the summit. It just parallels the trail towards Tirrell Pond.

so, to the summit: only one trail

Isn't there a jeep road coming in from the north that the telephone lines run along?

Yes, the private road has two branches, one of which goes all the way to the summit. But it is private, posted, and I've heard stories of people being ticketed for trespassing for using it. On the other hand, it's not unusual to find ski and/or snowmobile tracks on that jeep road in winter. Not endorsing it, just telling you what I've seen.

That's all private land which is why I kept saying a marked trail. And from what I've heard trespassers are not welcome.
