bodies of water

Hi All,

As you hike these days, are you passing any bodies of water? I haven't been to the Adirondacks since November and am wondering if most lakes are frozen over or not.

Any info would be great. I'm looking to put a paddle trip together first week in April - it would be nice to know if it might be a waste of my time or not.

Bradley pond and the streams around it are still frozen quite solidly. I walked over the stream Sunday. The mighty Hudson River is still frozen where the trail to Allen crosses over it!

I thinkearly April is hit or miss with a lot of variables in play. Your best bet is to contact St. Regis Outfitters http://www.canoeoutfitters.com/ they are very helpful.

If this helps All the lakes in Northwest NJ are still frozen and the creeks just started to open up. Up in the ADK it has to be more frozen. I doubt they will be completly open up that way by early April. I would wait a bit more.
