Bondcliff via Lincoln Woods Trail, Wilderness Trail, and Bondcliff Trail
Date of Hike: Saturday, January 24, 2009
Trail Conditions: Packed powder, windblown, blue ice
Special Equipment Required: Snowshoes
Comments:
Lincoln Woods Trail - well packed, barebootable, only blowdown was removed during the day
Wilderness Trail - single file well packed, multiple hangers/blowdowns, all can be walked under.
Bondcliff Trail to Bondcliff - well packed, some drifting just before top water crossing. Second water crossing from bottom not bridged, slightly tricky on snowshoes. All others bridged. Multiple blowdowns, none too tricky to get by.
Bondcliff Trail beyond Bondcliff - attempted twice an hour apart or so (knockdown wind gusts coming out of Pemi up cliffs), turned back twice. Was able to snowshoe down to 4,080' or so without too much of a problem. A few small blue ice patches, snow not too deep, could be done with Microspikes as far as I saw/went.
