Trail and Mountain names should go in the thread TITLE
Date of Hike: 5/10-5/12/09
Trail Conditions: Wilderness Trail to Bondcliff clear to around 3000ft. First water crossing required taking off the boots and wading through, rest wear far easier. Stable monorail from there to Bondcliff Ridge which was clear. Horrendous winds, some snow falling. From Bond to Guyot Shelter firm monorail, little postholing. Skipped West Bond that night to get out of the wind at the Guyot Shelter. Next day to W. Bond, monorail still firm. Twinway still has plenty of snow. Monorail mostly firm, minimal postholing for the ammount of snow/temp. Descent of South Twin was a challenge. Snow is not firm at all, rocks are slippery, and plenty of thigh deep postholes. Spur up to Galehead was the same. Gale River trail clear after 1/4 past trail junction. Some tricky crossings and mud, but a great end to a trip.
Special Equipment Required: Poles. We able to bareboot easily. Snowshoes may have been helpful over Twinway, but not needed.
Comments: Scary times Sunday around 5pm on the Bond/Bondcliff Ridges. Plenty of ducking, knealing, and using the trekking poles to keep from being blown away.
