Boot Spur via Glen Boulder Tr. well pack to the rock. No downs easy to follow. However from the rock to the Davis Path Junction great shape were it is only rock but the patch of trees in the middle is a whole different story. Two to Four feet of deep snow. The tree branches are waist to face high. Snowshoes are a must. After Spur we headed towards Isolation and headed back into the spruce traps. We went about a mile before we really lost the trail it was 2:30 so we turned back, the snow was deep and we had a feeling no one had walked the Davis Path to Iso in a long while. We walked out of the woods in the dark, bright enough to not use head lamps. Beautiful day with great views till about noon. Ceiling started to lower there after. Not to cold for the first week in February.
Pitched at Dolly Cobb. Indian for dinner.
Wildcat E via Lost Pond Tr. to Wildcat ridge Tr. down Polecat. Lost pond is in great shape go figure. Wildcat Ridge was unused after the first view point. Very steep in places and 1' to 3' plus of snow. Snowshoes at first switch to crampons at first steep section. Had to switch back at the top and had to use snowshoes the rest of the day for the snow was deep and unforgiving. Very slow goings. It was two o'clock when we got to the Polecat trail and opted to go down instead of going to Wildcat A. The snow took its toll on us. Great hike lots of fun swimming in the snow. No downs and the trail is well marked. Very clear in the morning with great views of the Presidential Range.
We went to bag a couple 4000 footers off the list and got none. None the less it was a great two days in the white. Another day another time.
