The Boston Chapter of the AMC is running its annual Spring Hiking Progran on five Tuesdays from April 24 to May 22. Cost is just $50 for members who pre-register (saves you long lines on the first night!!) and includes a copy of the White Mountain Guide, plus a variety of hikes (free, unless lodging is involved).
I believe this is a great course for those who are thinking of getting started. I have been involved with the corresponding winter course for many years, and both are run by volunteers who love hiking, and want to get others involved.
