A group of 7 amigos climbed B/W Sunday. HarryK and HikeThe115 started out at about 8:15. Jean, Nat, Rick, Laurie and myself started out at 9:00 from the Emily Proctor Trail. We eventually caught up to them at the lean to.
There is water available the entire way, in small streams, including the top of the trail, just past the Shelter where the EP meets the LT. There were more and more bugs as we got higher, so we kept our stays at the summits brief.
The summit of Wilson is on the LT, about 0.9 miles north of the lean to. If you take the very short spur trail, you can get some decent views off to the East.
Breadloaf is just off the LT, about 0.6 miles south of the lean to. The LT makes a very sharp turn and the spur trail continues 'straight ahead' to the summit. The trail to the true summit was brushed over, so we un-brushed it. Weird.... There is also another short spur trail to the 'Lookoff' point (as per the sign) with more or less the same view. Both views were pretty hazy but could be pretty nice, conditions permitting.
It was HOT!!! We were very glad to come back to a 'swimmin hole' about 1 mile before the trail head. We all stopped to cool off. Some of us got cooler than others!
The trail is in great shape. It's moderately steep, with a very long straight pitch up to the LT. From there, it's pretty easy to get to the summits.
Lots of moose droppings and prints, but no direct sightings...
