The Lincoln Slide is the old route to Owls Head before the trails in the valley were cut. There's a bit of meneuvering at the top to avoid the krumholz and some whacking at the bottom over to the trail. Every year a number of folks do this.
I stayed in Greenleaf Hut the night before, which saved a bit of time and elevation gain, as opposed to starting at the road and going up Falling Waterrs or Old Bridle Path. You might also camp at Liberty Springs for a similar head start.
Have fun. The Two slide make a nice day if it's clear.
