Once upon a time (Saturday), I drove a long way, put on every layer I own, and had a very unpleasant but successful solo hike up Cabot and back down. Five and a half hours from start to finish, well below zero with the wind chill. 13 more to go for the NH48 in winter. The end. :D

Chris,

Now that's dedication- bone-breaking cold, very little views- but that's what it takes to finish a list like the Winter 48. Did you take the Bunnell Notch route, or the one that goes past The Horn?

Future congratulations on finishing!

No, I went via Unknown Pond and Killkenny. I am not as familiar with Bunnell Notch, not even sure where the trailhead is. Thanks for the early congrats. I'm not sure I am going to finish this winter, working 6 days a week makes it tough, but I might.

Park at the lot beyond the fish hatchery. Walk along the road, branch left on the logging rd (sign, IIRC) a short distance beyond the parking lot. Follow the logging rd for about a mile, the trail heads off to the left. It was flagged when I was there several years ago.
