Date of Hikes: Saturday and Sunday April 25th and 26th
Trails: Bunnell Notch Trail, Kilkenny Ridge Trail / Hanock Notch Trail, Cedar Brook Trail / Hancock Loop Trail
Special Equipment: Light traction, snowshoes
Trail Conditions for Cabot: First mile until the sharp left is easily bare booted, snow on trail is about to die off down low very soon. After left turn the trail had four to six inches of fresh snow on Saturday morning. Two of us packed it back down, it was extremely choppy underneath the new snow up until the old Mount Cabot Trail junction, from there it's a nice snowshoes track.
Trail Conditions for Hancock: Two water crossings on the Cedar Brook trail are currently being bypassed by a nice packed down herd path. The trails were firmer than I expected and bare booting or light traction worked absolutely perfect with no post holing.
Comments: Kind of a crummy weekend for views. Cabot felt like a full on winter hike after the first mile and the Hancocks more like a spring hike with the warmer temps. Still it was fun to get out on the trails, not too many people out there this weekend. Finished another round of the 48 on Cabot-Patch and always interesting to see what's in that lil' green cabin.
