8/14, The Michael Kudish Natural History Preserve will be hosting a star party with optional camping. The Town of Stamford just happens to be having fireworks that night! So, come on over!

Does this correspond with the Perseid meteor shower? Would bringing a telescope be in order?

This year's shower should peak out on the night of August 12 into the morning of the 13th with 3 AM being the best time, but you can see a few meteors any time from July 23 - August 22. The radiant for this shower will be in the constellation Perseus. The crescent moon will be out of the way early on, so the answer is

Maybe!

As for a telescope, you can bring it, but it is best just to use your eyes for observing meteors, as they can appear anywhere in the sky w/o any notice.
