Well, I got some great advice about geting to the AT near Orbrton or Perham streams, but I'm still wondering if anyone knows of a decent spot to camp somewhere between the Poplar ridge shelter and the summit of Saddleback. Maybe in the saddle between Saddleback Jr and the Horn...

Of course what I'd be looking for is water and a somewhat flat area for a tent...

I'm heading up there in a week, and I'll be sure to let the board know what I find.

Thanks!

the ridge between Saddleback and the Horn has some sensitive ecological areas (hope to head up there next year). I'm looking at a natural communities map (can't remember where on the web I found it) and the area you talk about between Saddleback Jr and the Horn is labeled "Spruce Slope forest" which is probably ok to camp in.

Haven't been there though so I couldn't tell you what it's like.
