Trail to lake was packed enough to be easy. Trail above the lake needed breaking out and it was largely through the efforts of a group of 5 from Meredith & Sanbornton. It wasn't easy on the steep section with powdery snow over icy surfaces. By the end of the day at least 15 people may have been on the trail as we met many coming up on our way down. Most snowshoed but some barebooted. No blowdowns or stream crossings. The mighty tough little dog did well despite the powdery snow. EyesThatSmile got her first winter four thousand footer. Trail up to the Cannon Balls was not broken out, nor was the Dodge Cutoff, when we passed their intersections. A great day to be on the trails with the best of companions.
